NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Phase II

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is a two-part course consisting of an e-learning portion and a hands-on practical portion conducted in the classroom and on the range.

This is the second portion of the class (Phase II) which is the practical application of the material learned in the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Phase I online training.

This class teaches students how to safely handle, use, store and transport all types of handguns. Topics include gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic handguns, shooting fundamentals, ammunition knowledge and selection

This NRA approved course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and using a handgun safely. Each student will learn about revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, how they function, and how to handle them in a safe manner. After learning the NRA’s three rules of gun safety, students will be shown how guns work. They will learn proper grip, stance, sight alignment, and sight picture before shooting both revolvers and semiautomatic pistols. The course fee includes range fees, ammunition, use of handguns, and instruction by NRA Certified Instructors. Students will start out using .22 caliber pistols and progress to larger, calibers during their shooting session.

Metallic Cartridge Reloading

NRA Basic Metallic Cartridge Reloading course provides beginning reloaders with the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to safety reload metallic cartridges. This course is eight hours in length and teaches reloading safety, introduces ballistics principles, and use of reloading manual data.

Detailed discussions on case preparation, case priming, powder measuring techniques, selection of a reloading press, bullets and smokeless powders, are accompanied by hands-on experience reloading centerfire cartridges using single stage and manual turret reloading presses, and support equipment.

The class includes NRA student materials and on successful completion of the written exam you will receive an NRA course certificate. Please bring a pair of safety glasses with you to the class along with note taking materials. Participants must not have firearms in the classroom as we will be working with live components and ammunition.
