NRA Pistol Instructor Training

NRA Pistol Instructor Training will help you develop the additional knowledge, skills and techniques needed to organize and teach the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Class. This NRA Instructor Training Course is designed to teach you how to teach others to shoot using NRA lesson plans and training methods. This course is not designed to improve your shooting skills. Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills are a prerequisite for certification as an NRA instructor. You will be expected to demonstrate safe, shooting skills through participation in a pre-course assessment.

The NRA Pistol Instructor Course consists of two parts:

  • Part One: Basic Instructor Training (6 hours) $125.00
  • Part Two: NRA Pistol Instructor Training (10 hours)* $200.00
  • Total Training Package $325.00

*Travel to and from Albuquerque Shooting Range Park adds two hours and makes it impractical to conduct Part 2 in one day.

Price include: tuition, NRA training materials, and range fees. Students must provide their own ammunition.


NRA Chief Range Safety Officer Training & NRA Range Safety Officer Training

The Basic Range Safety Officer Course is the National Rifle Association’s response to the American public’s need for Range Safety Officer (RSO) training.

This course teaches the basic duties an RSO performs by providing a thorough introduction to: the role of RSOs; range standard operating procedures (SOPs); range safety briefings; range inspections; emergency procedures; and how to clear firearms and correct malfunctions. The skills acquired in the course required regular practice and should initially take place under the supervision of a qualified individual such as an NRA Chief Range Safety Officer (CRSO).

The NRA Range Safety Officer Course is 9 Hours of instruction conducted during two, training days:

Cost is $180.00 with a $45.00 discount offered to members of Los Lunas Gun Club and Zia Rifle and Pistol Club.


NRA Personal Protection In the Home Instructor Training

NRA Personal Protection in the Home Instructor Training will help you develop the knowledge, skills and attitude needed to organize and teach the NRA Basic Personal Protection in the Home (PPIH) Class. This NRA Instructor Training Course is designed to teach you how to teach others personal protection skills using NRA lesson plans and training methods. This course is not designed to improve your shooting skills. Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills are a prerequisite for certification as an NRA PPIH Instructor.

The NRA PPIH Instructor Course is 9-12 Hours of instruction conducted during two, training days:

Total Training Package $250.00

Price include: tuition, taxes, NRA training materials, and range fees. Instructor candidates must provide their own handguns and 100 rounds ammunition.

Course Prerequisites: A PPIH Instructor Candidate must be an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor prior to attending PPIH Instructor training. Only those candidates who achieve satisfactory scores in the pre-course qualification, and who met other specified requirements for NRA instructors will be eligible for certification.


NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Instructor Training

NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Instructor Training will help you develop the knowledge, skills and attitude needed to organize and teach the NRA Basic Personal Protection Outside the Home (PPOH) Class. This NRA Instructor Training Course is designed to teach you how to teach others personal protection skills using NRA lesson plans and training methods. This course is not designed to improve your shooting skills. Possession of advanced firearm safety and shooting skills are a prerequisite for certification as an NRA PPOH Instructor.

The NRA PPOH Instructor Course is 16 Hours of instruction conducted during two, training days:

Total Training Package $250.00

Price include: tuition, taxes, NRA training materials, and range fees. Instructor candidates must provide their own handguns, 250 rounds ammunition, a sturdy, strong-side holster, 3 magazines, and a magazine holder.

Course Prerequisites: A PPOH Instructor Candidate must be an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor and an NRA Certified PPIH Instructor prior to attending PPOH Instructor training.

PPOH Instructor Candidates must have passed the Personal Protection Outside the Home Basic, 14-hour course.

Only those candidates who successfully complete the 14-hour Basic PPOH course and who achieve a score of 90 percent or better on the Basic PPOH student examination, and pass the PPOH Instructor Training Course with a score of 90 percent or better will be eligible for certification.
